Dasag Energy Engineering was established by Dr. H.N. Sharan in 1979 as a specialised energy technology company engaged in design, development, testing and commercialisation of power plants and related equipment.

Its work load in earlier years came from the conventional power sector but the focus shifted more and more towards Renewable Energy Technologies (RET) and energy efficiency (EE), especially on small systems for decentralised plants suitable for villages in Third World countries.

Dasag has a long history of promoting and implementing technology cooperation between Switzerland and India, including the then unique transfer of gasifier technology from India to Switzerland.
